Hi! ππ» I'm Viivi, and I moved from London to New Zealand over 2 years ago. Since then I've petsat for dogs, cats, chickens, a herd of cattle and horses as well as a miniature pony, sheep and an aquarium full of fish! π I enjoy exploring various neighbourhoods and hiking trails with my new furry companions, and chilling out on the sofa/in the garden with them π₯Ύ
π In the 3+ years I've been petsitting, I've never cancelled a sit; I only apply for sits that look like they might suit my schedule and block out the dates in my diary once agreed. Even with sits booked 6+ months in advance, you can count on me to be there and look after your pets! πΎ
Why do I petsit? While my frequent travels have meant I can't currently commit to having pets of my own, I love looking after other people's family members and meeting new people while doing so π± I'm clean, responsible and very considerate of both your space and your animals' (if they're a cuddler, great but also happy to leave them alone for the most part if they're not big on strange humans and just need feeding/a bit of company from a distance!) ποΈ I grew up with dogs at home (German Shepherds and Dobermans) at and cats, as well as an assortment of other creatures like fish, budgies and terrapin turtles so have experience with lots of different animals π’ I'm also currently still working out where in Auckland I'd like to base myself long term, so petsitting is a great way of testing out different neighbourhoods and exploring the city ποΈ
πββ¬ Petsitting experience: Lots! I started petsitting back in 2017, but only really started doing it more often in 2021 during COVID. As well as NZ, I have experience of petsitting from London and Cyprus π The oldest cats I've sat for so far were 19, and the youngest a kitten under the age of one, while the youngest dog I've looked after has been 4 months old and the oldest 12 years old π I can give medications/tablets/ear and eye drops as needed and have had to treat fleas on a few occasions as well as take one or two pets to the vet...so am confident in dealing with most situations that might arise while you're away π
π₯οΈ Work pattern: I work as an office manager by Akoranga on the North Shore. With dogsits where they can be left at home during the day, I make sure to walk then in the morning and evening. Otherwise if you have existing daycare arrangements that would suit this work pattern, I can drop them off on pre-agreed days. I can work a day from home a week (usually a Monday) as needed. On weekends I'm happy to take pets out with me where possible to socialise them and if they like longer walks, on hikes in areas where dogs are allowed (like dog parks, beaches or tramping tracks near Auckland) π³
Interests: I enjoy hiking, cycling, kayaking and a low key bar or comedy night with friends. I'm not into clubbing/partying, and wake up pretty early to walk the dogs or play with cats before any work/take the bins out ποΈ I have my own car, so just need a packing spot for it (on street is fine) π
