I have owned and bred chickens, trained working dogs and looked after sheep, cows, horses, goats, emu, alpacca, peacocks, ducks, and more. I'm comfortable around all farm animals and machinery, and happy to follow instructions. I have a truck, digger, forklift and motorbike licence and can operate manual 4WD's. I'm also experienced in gardening, growing food, mowing, composting and bush survival skills, so the realities of farm and rural life aren't a problem.

My unique skillset and proven professionalism has allowed me to provide exceptional, safe and loving care to dozens of host's animals, gardens and homes. Are you our next host?
Welcome to our profile!
We are Karina and Jett—a dynamic mum-and-son house-sitting team. We live in NZ and have been house-sitting full-time for several years, caring for a wide range of animals, homes, gardens and properties.
My professional background in NZ Police, Firefighting, dog training, specialized cat and other animal care including animal first aid, farm animal care, and a passion for edible and landscape gardening, means your animals, home, plants and gardens will receive top-quality care.
Our glowing references from all of our wonderful hosts have given us a 5-star rating and repeat requests over the years, reflecting our professionalism, reliability, and competence in tending to a wide range of homes and animals around New Zealand.
Many of our hosts say we leave their home cleaner than we found it - and we love to hear that!
Jett's a life learner and correspondence student, while I run my small psychology-based business online in the evenings for a few hours. So your animals, gardens and home will be our first priority.
Jett has a loving and responsible approach to all animals, a mature outlook on life, and an adventurous spirit. Along with my self-sufficient and diverse skillset, this means you can count on us to handle any unexpected emergencies with calm confidence while you enjoy your holiday in peace. Whether your home is urban or rural, we've got you covered!
Our experience includes caring for creatures of all sizes: from large working dogs to medium and small dogs, cuddly or shy cats, nervous animals with separation anxiety, chickens, ducks, sheep, cows, rabbits, reptiles, exotic birds, fish, horses, and more. We will even dote on your snakes or spiders!
We believe in treating all creatures with kindness and respect, tailoring our care to match your pet's unique needs and energy—even offering some training or behaviour support if requested. We also have proven experience caring for animals with special needs, such as deaf or blind dogs and cats (we've looked after a few of these now) and injured or sick animals that need specialized feeding and medication.
My extensive emergency services background spanning over 30 years, means we can handle unexpected issues or emergencies with calm confidence, ensuring your home and animals are safe and well.
I am well versed in animal first aid, as well as theft and fire prevention protocols, so you can relax while away, knowing your precious home and animals are looked after by a mature professional.
Do your animals need companionship? You're in luck! I run my psychology business part-time online in the evenings, while Jett is a self-directed correspondence student and life learner. Your animals and property will be our focus and receive all the company, exercise, and adventures they need, with regular photos and updates sent to you while you're away.
We have our own car, so we don't need to use yours, but if you need us to drive any vehicles or machinery, I have a license that covers small trucks, diggers, forklifts, and motorbikes. I can drive a manual and have driven a variety of ATVs, ride-on mowers, and even fire trucks.
We lead a clean, healthy lifestyle - I don't smoke, vape, drink, or have guests visit - your home is your sanctuary and we understand this. As a previous homeowner, I am very power-conscious and keep every home I look after clean and tidy. Upon your return, expect nothing less than a spick-and-span home, happy, healthy animals, thriving plants and gardens, and no unexpected large power bills, as attested to in our glowing reviews.
We don't require much:
Minimalists by nature, we just need a quiet bedroom to sleep in, and a workspace with a desk or table for our laptops.
We prefer to park our car off the street, just a driveway will do.
Good mobile reception is important to us as we use our own unlimited Wi-Fi data from our phones. If you are rural but have good Wi-Fi we can use, that's great, but not essential if phone reception is good.
If you think we're a great match or have questions, get in touch!
We look forward to hearing from you.
Karina and Jett
