We are Baerbel and Chris....we call ourselves Grey Nomads
In 2022 we decided to leave our busy jobs, rent out our property in Christchurch , and go on a tiky tour around beautiful Aotearoa / New Zealand.
We have been on the road for some time now and we're loving every minute.
We have our own car.
We are active and fit, and non smokers. We love pets, ( and have had several during the years ourselves ) and we love to stay a little longer in different places to explore and enjoy the surrounds, meet new people and make new friends ( humans and animals) When we house sit we are 100% committed and available to the needs of the pets, ie stay at home, keeping to regular schedules, walks etc.
A No 8 wire mentality, common sense and lots of DIY experience will see your property in trusted hands, and rest assured your pets will be well looked after. Cuddles are always available :-)
In the past we have hosted on Airbnb for several years and have achieved " Superhost" status several times in a row.

Baerbel & Chris did a wonderful job of caring and grooming our 2 big dogs and looking after our house for 4 weeks. We had a tree down during a storm and Chris chopped it all up and fixed our fence. He also did a couple of repairs around the place which I am still discovering, a very handy guy.
The house and property was left immaculate and our dogs were very happy. Thank you guys.
I would give 10 stars! From the moment of first contact to the end of their stay, Chris & Baerbel were extremely professional. Not having used housesitters before, going away for 6.5 weeks had me quite worried, as our dogs are not tiny lapdogs but strong characters with their own quirks. Can't thank Chris and Baerbel enough. This is our first housesitting experience and we were a bit nervous leaving our cat and dog for so long with unfamiliar people, but Chris and Baerbel made the process really easy. They were so accommodating, and took great care of both our home and our fur babies.
We had a return flight cancelled and when we asked if it was possible to stay another night, they were so accommodating and returned back to the house without delay which was so good of them.

Chris and Baerbel took great care of our animals, walking our dog daily and giving him lots of play. They went above and beyond by delivering our car to the airport and cooking a lovely meal for us to return to which was very much appreciated.

Love Love Love Baerbel and Chris! I want them to move in permanently as my place has never looked so good. The care they showed our 3 dogs was second to none. Can't rate them highly enough and already trying to organise their next stay as my mind was completely at ease the entire time I was on holiday.
Baerbel and Chris have just completed a 5 week sit for us caring for our 2 dogs, 3 cats, sheep and large garden. From the initial communication we couldn’t fault them, so experienced and complete pros! Baerbal & Chris are a lovely couple that we were able to get to know before and after our dates. The house and animals well looked after and we woulkd love to have them again any time.
Baerbel and Chris looked after our home and animals with great care and love, they (Roxy dog, the 2 mini horses, chooks and cattle) were all happy and healthy on our return. Baerbel and Chris were a wonderful retired couple who took great care of our dog Carlos and home. It was nice to know that we were leaving Carlos and our home in kind, caring, trustworthy and thoughtful hands. They were excellent at communicating and nothing was a problem. Chris even delivered us to the airport for an early morning flight.
They sent us frequent updates & photos.
Our smallest dog needed an allergy injection & Baerbel got this organised promptly at the vet's busy holiday period.
We came home to happy dogs, a wonderfully clean house, sheets & towels washed, bed changed, & lawns mown.
I could not recomend them more highly & I hope we get the chance to have them here again.
Baerbel and Chris are a couple of angels who are simply the best house/dog sitters. I left my home and my dog Tama in their care for 11 days knowing that I didn't have to worry., Tama loves them both, he was taken out everywhere as they explored the area. Chris and Baerbel cut up wood and stacked it away in my shed. They arranged for a trailer load plus of rubbish to be taken away. My home was immaculate and tidy upon my return. Chris and Barbel were the model house sitters. I highly recommend them. My large garden was very well cared for, including the lawn mowing, and they also planted new herbs and tomatoes ahead of my return. There were new flowers in the garden and bright gerberas by the front door. They kindly planted a couple of trees too. And they chopped up enough firewood to last through next winter. Baerbel and Chris are the perfect house sitters. We arrived back from holiday and it was like coming home to family, even to the point the pets ignored us as they had been so well looked after. I have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone looking for a professional and reliable house sit.
Baerbel and Chris are wonderful house sitters. They looked after our place in the Wairarapa and various pets for two weeks while we are overseas. Everything was perfect when we got back. There were baked goods waiting for us, the lawn had been mowed and even the gutters cleaned out - thank you! I can highly recommend Baerbel and Chris.
