Hi everybody, we are Ged and Laraine from the UK.
We are arriving back in New Zealand in November and will be spending 6 months on the North Island
We have just rejoined Kiwi house sitters but are very successful members on other worldwide platforms with over40+ five star reviews additionally we have our own web site which we really like potential home owners to view as it tells much more about who we are and what we do along with a host of photos of animals we have loved and cared for around the world.
We describe ourselves as " senior backpackers "We have recently taken early retirement and are working our way around the world house sitting and volunteering ( 40 countries so far )
We are both very young at heart, we are fit and active, apart from carrying a few extra pounds, we love our walks especially with pets.
During our lifetime in the U.K. we have had many of our own pets including 4 Dogs, 2 Cats, Chinchillas, Tropical fish, Parrots and Cockatoos.
We have looked after several pets with special needs such as a lovely Persian cat with a bladder complaint, a beautiful Poodle with a heart/lung and skin condition, an incontinent Chihuahua with sight/vision issues, and a Sharpei with anxiety and ear trouble. We are confident in administering and providing regular medical needs to the pets in our care from eye and ear drops, tablets, to special shampoos.
We have undertaken many house sitting jobs in many countries through various web platforms and we will be happy to provide you with our many 5 star feedbacks from our other house and pet sitting jobs, we have many checkable references and reviews which can be verified by email or phone.
When undertaking a house sit we like to keep the pets routine as near to normal as we are able to so, we are happy to have your cats sleep on the pillow or our dogs sleep on or by the bed, if that is their norm then nothing will change when we are providing their care. Your pets will receive 24/7 love, care and affection from us both, any training and exercise regimes will be adhered to.
House sitting has now become our chosen lifestyle, our responsibility for your pets, home and gardens are at the forefront of every thing we do.
We will treat your home with the utmost respect and care, and we are happy to agree a cleaning schedule for home and garden, we do not watch T.V. on a regular basis ( maybe an occasional film ) we prefer to spend our time with the pets in our care and keeping everything around us in good order, we would both admit to being slightly OCD when it comes to cleanliness.
We are also happy to take on small maintenance tasks during our stay, as we like to keep active, and are both skilled in property maintenance, Ged is qualified carpenter and builder and we have both renovated several properties to a showhome standard
We are completely trustworthy, reliable and honest and will always go the extra mile for our hosts by following any instructions to the letter, and never overstepping the mark, once we have been accepted for a house sit we consider it to be a verbal contract which must be honoured by both parties, our word really is our bond.
In answer to the question "why do we want to house sit" we much prefer being away from hotels and tourism, we like to let our potential hosts that should you choose us to housesit we will take the greatest care of your pets and property, we will love them like our own, and will willingly include any reasonable request for maintenance, gardening/yard work.
We are happy to have regular contact and update on home and pets we have sent regular WhatsApp videos to previous pet owners by way of reassurance likewise we are happy to just leave you alone, as any situation that may arise, we are able to handle and deal with it in a confident manner.
Whatever you wish for your pets and home we will provide that exact level of service.
We also like homeowners to know that we are not looking for a holiday, it is our intention to become professional house sitters, so do give us a try, we genuinely love to look after pets and homes.

When travelling to a new destination our preference is to arrive a day or two before the hosts depart ( in a nearby hotel or Airbnb at our own cost ) this enables a better introduction to the pets and a more relaxed orientation of the home and area, we can have a chat, and raise any questions that may not be covered in the handover pack/ notes.
We also travel with our own bedding, towels and sundry items to make departure easier..

Laraine and Ged were excellent house sitters and I would highly recommend them to look after your home and your pets. We met up before the house sit and they took the time to understand the needs of our dog and property. Our dog was well looked after and walked each day, and Laraine often posted photos of her out and about with them. There was a small amount of garden watering to do, and all plants were healthy on our return. I would be very happy to have them return again.
