Rodger has lived and worked on farm/orchard and is not afraid of larger animals. Joan has visited farms and been involved in care of small animals and poultry. Neither of us have experiences of horses, but wouldn't be afraid to be guided to care for them.

Hello. We are Joan and Rodger from British Columbia in Canada. Rodger is a British expat living in Canada for 14 years. We have spent the past year and a half travelling locally and internationally pet sitting since we retired. Joan has sat for friends dogs and cats, both in their own homes and in her own home. She has Mylo, our Yorkie/Pomeranian, who she took in willingly when the person could no longer look after him and she is absolutely devoted to him. She has always had a pet including a cat named Bob for 19 years. She also enjoys keeping a garden tidy, though not a huge one that would require constant attention on a daily basis. She has for the past few years looked after a friends vacation home when they are not there.
Rodger has been involved, during the time he lived in the UK, in the rescue of Staffordshire Bull Terriers, adopting 3 of them during the time he was involved with the organisation, NSBTR (Northern Staffordshire Bull Terrier Rescue). He has also owned dogs as family pets throughout his life. Rodger also has experience of requiring a home/pet sitter and turned to Trusted Housesitters for this service. He found an excellent sitter who he used twice for extended sitting periods and they are firm friends who keep in touch now on a regular basis. As home owners, we know the worries and stresses that leaving your home behind, along with pets, can bring.
We're fortunate to be able to have ours taken care of locally, but we're conscious that others are not so fortunate so we bring that comfort to the table that we're capable of taking care of both a home and/or pets.
Rodger is an electrical engineer by profession with a wealth of knowledge of many other trades and can turn his hand to most around the home "repairs" as necessary, but is also aware of his limitations and would not hesitate to contact the relevant person if there were to be an emergency that he felt he would be unprepared to deal with. We take care of our own homes and know that in the position of sitting for someone they would appreciate the knowledge that their home is being taken care of too. We have spent the past year and a half travelling to pet sit. Our most recent sits were in the UK (England and Scotland) for three months. We absolutely love travelling to take care of your loved ones.
We don't seem to be able to link our Trusted Housesitter profile to this site, but if you'd like to see any of the reviews we've received on there, we'd be happy to copy them to you. Also, we'd be pleased to ask any of the previous owners we've sat for to directly communicate with you and offer their references of us.
