Featherston South Wairarapa

Hello, we're hoping to match with some farm-sitters so my partner and I can have a rare break from the farm and spend some time in Europe.

We are on a small farm of about 50 ha with approx 50 breeding cattle and some horses. We also have a couple of well-behaved dogs plus chickens. Our property is in a lovely valley on a series of river terraces so it's mainly flat and easy country. We back onto bush and native forest.

The farm is an hour from Wellington and 5 minutes from Featherston village with shops and a train to Wellington. We are close to great river fishing, Ocean Beach and its renowned 5 star lodge, and lots of forest walks and cycle trails are nearby. Plus the pretty wine village of Martinborough is just 16 km away.

The accommodation is separate from our house and is in a well-equipped, modern and cosy 2 bedroom tiny-house in a sheltered valley near a small stream. It has a full kitchen and bathroom, with all modern amenities such as heat pump, washing machine, dishwasher etc. We have Starlink high speed internet.

As well as giving the dogs love and collecting the chicken eggs, the sit will involve daily feeding out (using the tractor), shifting the cattle every few days and checking and feeding hay to the horses once a day, plus checking water and electric fences.
