We need a house sitter

We are after a responsible person or couple to care for our house and animals while we head away on a family holiday. Ideally you will have lived on a lifestyle block or have some experience with farm animals.

We live on a 6 acre lifestyle block, with 7 sheep, 2 kunekune pigs and a cat. All the animals are friendly and love a chat and a pat.

The sheep will require daily welfare checks (they will probably be in lamb) and hay fed out daily, as well as filling the water trough and moving paddocks when required. The pigs get fed once a day, they are friendly and very low maintenance. Feeding sheep and pigs will take around 5 minutes per day.

The whole block is flat and easy to get around.

The house has a big fire to keep you warm inside, with a heat transfer system that warms the bedrooms. There is plenty of firewood to use.

We live in a quiet rural area but are only 3km from Rangiora, which has a great range of shops, restaurants and pubs. Cellphone service is best on Spark. We have a good internet connection.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Megan’s! She have a lovely property and was really easy to communicate with. She left us a little guidebook on how best to take care of the home and pets, which proved very useful. We loved caring for porky, miss piggy and Frankie and would definitely pet sit again :)

House sitting for Megan and her family was a real pleasure. We felt at home straight away. The house was spotless, plenty of space in fridge and pantry was prepared for us. The animals were an absolute joy. Porky Pie and Miss Piggy work like an alarm clock and were waiting patiently on the fence telling us when it was feeding time.
