Website Upgrade! Let's Make House Sitting Easier Than Ever

We’ve taken all your feedback over the years to heart, and the team has put a lot of work into refining the Kiwi House Sitters website. Here are the details...

Thanks for being part of New Zealand's largest house sitting community!

We hope Kiwi House Sitters has been a wonderful way for you to connect with caring home and pet lovers, giving you the freedom to enjoy holidays and time away with peace of mind over the years.

Website Upgrade:

We want to inform you of our upcoming website upgrade, which is scheduled to launch in early March, 2025.

We’ve taken all your feedback over the years to heart, and the team has put a lot of work into refining the Kiwi House Sitters website to create a smoother, more intuitive experience. Making finding a house sitter easier than ever.

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO

When the new website launches, all your account information will transfer automatically, so there’s nothing you need to do.

However, we recommend logging in to explore the new layout. If you have a pending job listing, take advantage of the updated account features to add more details to your ad and attract more sitter applications.

What’s Coming in the New Upgrade?:

Here are some of the most frequent homeowner questions we’ve received and how we’re planning to address them with this upgrade.

Q: Can all the sitter profiles have photos and more information?

A: Yes, we are going to make it mandatory for sitters to add at least one photo (we encourage adding more) to their profile before it goes live. We are also expanding the sections within their profile to give you a more complete view of all the wonderful house sitters registered with us.

Q: Can you improve the homeowner’s account section, including the ads and photo uploads?

A: Yes, the homeowner ads are getting a much-needed facelift! They will be more visually appealing and easier to read, with different sections under specific headings. We are also simplifying the account menu, making everything more logical and user-friendly.

Q: Why do some house sitters say they’re available only to find out that they’re not?

A: Most house sitters keep their profiles up to date, but a few need reminders. To address this, we are making the sitter’s ‘Availability Calendar’ more interactive, so only available sitters will display for your chosen dates. Additionally, we will send more frequent auto-reminder notifications, so sitters keep their calendars and profiles current.

Q: Do you have a mobile phone app we can use?

A: We don’t have a phone app at the moment, but as outlined above, we are building one right now! It should be completed by June - we’ll keep you posted on the progress.

Q: It’s my first time engaging a house sitter, how can I trust the house sitters on your site?

A: We believe our community is home to the most trustworthy, caring, and experienced sitters. To make this evident and help provide peace of mind in the new upgrade, we’re adding a ‘trust’ section to each sitter’s profile. Here, you’ll be able to quickly see if they are ID verified, have 5-star reviews, have references, how long they’ve been a member, their communication rating, and more.

Q: Do you have advice on how to secure the right house sitter for me?

A: Yes, to add onto the wealth of information on our website and blog outlining best practices, all members will now receive a detailed, step-by-step downloadable guide to help you create an outstanding house-sitting ad, attract the best sitters, and ensure a smooth, enjoyable experience from start to finish.

What happens next?

When the new website launches, we will email you information that will help familiarise yourself with the new layout.

Thank you.

We’re excited about these updates and the continued growth of our community. Thank you for being part of this journey, and we can’t wait to bring you even more improvements to enhance your house-sitting experience.

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out - we’re always here to help.

Warm regards,

The Kiwi House Sitters Team
