Hello! I’m Laura, an experienced house/pet-sitter from the UK, currently exploring New Zealand (currently based between Nelson and Wanaka).
I joined this site when I arrived in New Zealand, but I have also completed over 30 sits in the UK, France and Australia in the last 3 years using Trusted House Sitters (I'll happily share my reviews/references with you!)
I work online as a tutor and divide my time between travelling in my van and house/pet-sitting.
I enjoy ‘slow travel’ and find that house sitting is perfect for this, as it gives me the opportunity to spend an extended period of time in one place, live like a local, and really get to know a place more intimately.
In my free time, I enjoy being outside in nature, hiking, camping, sea kayaking, swimming, reading, gardening, travelling, learning languages and making embroidered jewellery.
WHY I WANT TO SIT
I love people, animals, gardening and travel, so I can't think of anything better than helping people take care of their pets and properties while they're away.
For me, there is no better feeling than knowing pet-parents have been able to relax and enjoy their trip, calm in the knowledge that their home is in safe hands and their pets are being loved, cared for, and having lots of fun!
As I work 'from home', your pets will rarely be left alone and I will have lots of time, love and fuss for them.
MY EXPERIENCE
I have always been an animal lover and have had cats, rabbits and guinea pigs of my own over the years, as well as having dogs in my family and spending a lot of time with horses growing up.
I have experience with a wide variety of animals, including rescue animals and those that may experience anxiety/separation anxiety, so I am not fazed by this and have a calm, patient and loving approach.
The pets I have cared for so far include a Siberian Husky, Jack Russells, Springer Spaniels, Cocker Spaniels, a German Shepherd, Border Collies, Hungarian Vizslas, poodles, an Irish Terrier, Cockerpoos, Labradors, a Bichon Frise, a Sproodle, a Scottish Deerhound, a Golden Retriever, a greyhound, a Havanese, cats (including Ragdolls), horses, chickens, ducks, fish, sheep, a Bearded Dragon and even a snake! Oh and I have made some lovely human friends too :)
I enjoy gardening and caring for houseplants and am particularly interested in permaculture, organic growing and regenerative agriculture.
I am organised, tidy and respectful and I don't drink or smoke.
I know what it's like to be away from loved pets, so I am happy to provide regular updates/photos via Whatsapp and will keep in touch as much as you would like while you are away.
It was lovely to have Laura come and look after Toby my 14 year old spoodle and my house. She kept in contact with me throughout her stay and I arrived home to a very tidy house and happy dog. I can highly recommend her.

We had lots of updates frequently from her and an our wee man was spoiled with trips all over the place and lots of play time to keep him occupied.
The house was immaculately clean on our return.

I cannot recommend Laura enough! 100% trust worthy, excellent communication throughout and so warm and professional at all times. I have no hesitation recommending Laura and would welcome her back anytime.
Laura and her brother Matt were absolutely amazing. We have 3 dogs with varied needs and they tended to all their individual needs. Laura was an excellent communicator with regular updates and photos. Our house was very well looked after as was the plants in the garden. I would say that our house looked cleaner when we arrived home than when we left 😊. I would highly recommend Laura and her brother Matt as pet and house sitters. Definitely a 5 star experience all around!
Laura is an absolute gem. Not only is she the most superbly caring pet sitter, she is a most lovely interesting and mature young lady with superb communication skills, who goes above and beyond her house-sitting brief.

I would give Laura 6 stars if I could. The level of care, attentiveness and communication were second-to-none. We have two indoor cats, one of which is deaf and very shy, and we were nervous about leaving her. Not only did Laura send us daily updates, but mentioned to get said deaf cat out of her shell and enjoying pats from Laura. Couldn’t recommend more highly. Hope to have Laura back soon ❤️
Excellent house sit. Great communication prior, during and after visit. Happy animals and house left immaculate. Highly recommend and would love to use again if the opportunity arises.
Laura looked after our house & chickens for 5 days. She is super competent & really easy to make arrangements with, coming round to run through everything before the sit & went above & beyond, running us to the airport & picking us up. There were no issues & we came home to a lovely tidy house & contented chickens. We would have no hesitation at all recommending Laura to care for house & pets, they would be in great hands. I cannot say enough good things about Laura as my housesitter, as she went above and beyond any expectations. She arrived the night before the sit commenced to get used to the routine, particularly with my dog Wade, who immediately loved her and looked so comfortable with her.
She kept in touch with me the whole time I was away and sent me lovely photos, mainly of Wade!

I was very lucky to have had Laura looking after my home and two cats this past weekend. Her communication was excellent both prior to and during the sit, even arranging a pre-sit catchup to meet the cats and get familiar with the house. I'd never engaged a house-sitter before so her professionalism and friendliness was very much appreciated. House was immaculate and kitties were very happy and comfortable. Straight away I knew I could trust Laura with our fury ones. She is mature, professional and so caring.
We received photos and updates regarding not just our pets but the garden too. Moss (our big Labby) loved her visits to the beach and river, pretty sure Laura loved them also. We now have a lot to live up to. Thank you Laura.
Laura was a dream house sitter. This was my first time using Kiwi House Sitters and Laura put me at ease from our first moment of contact. She communicated with me very well throughout the sit and even came to meet me before I went away.
The house was clean and tidy and Luna seemed very happy and unphased by having someone new in the house. I would absolutely recommend Laura and I have asked her back in February to sit again.
