Kia ora,
I'm Elena, a 31 years old german Occupational Therapist, who came here to NZ in march 2020. I fell in love with the country, decided to stay, worked in different fields and am now working as an Activities Coordinator in a Resthome in Torbay.
I am a very clean and reliable, handy and friendly person who grew up with cats and dogs. I'm communicative, creative and love it to try new tasks, crafts and to learn new things like Ceroc dancing and stand up paddling.
Aside from that am I planning to get my registration as an OT and study for all necessary tests. I stayed in Martinborough for one year before I started house and pet sitting, did Wwoofing with a lot of gardening, helping to run an AirB&B and doing different creative and crafty tasks.
Besides that did I work as a house keeper/ companion and dog trainer for a lady with two labradors.
After work, back home in Germany, I volunteered in the animal shelter to walk the dogs and give the cats their so much needed pats and plays.
I am amazed by the big community of Kiwi Housesitters, loved every single of my sits and am so grateful for the friendships which grew with the pets and owners.

It was a pleasure to deal with Elena! Our pets were spoilt in our absence. She regularly communicated via text and sent images of our pets. Our house was clean and tidy on our return and she had even left a lovely strudell that she had just baked in our oven ( was wonderful to walk in at 11pm to the smell). Would highly recommend her and we would love to have her house sit again.;)
We couldn’t have wished for a better sitter. Elena earned her trust with our two cats and even with our wild birds from day dot. She took great care off all of them, send reports, pics and videos frequently and treated our home with respect and the utmost care. When we returned after nearly three months we found our animals happy and healthy. Elena was such a reassurance to have in my home looking after my cat! My cat is super shy and skittish and Elena was great and being able to slowly bring her out of her shell and by the end they were best mates! I never had any concerns and Elena would send me photo updates of my cat and messages on her wellbeing. The house and garden was kept neat and tidy, and I will definitely have her back next time I travel!
There was no better house sitter for us than Elena! She is 100% reliable, and replies fast to messages. She is very personable, easy to talk to and a great problem solver. When we had minor maintenance issues, she arranged repairs quickly and efficiently. She has a really good understanding of how appliances work and can do minor repairs. Elena was a fantastic house and dog sitter whilst we were in the UK. She was super communicative both in the lead up to and during the house sit, sending lots of photos and updates. Our greyhound Ralph was clearly a big fan too and Elena was great at quickly building trust with him. So much so that we've been delighted to have her keep in touch and continue visits even after we've returned. The house was also in great hands, plants look health and it's probably cleaner then when we left it!
Elena was lovely to talk to and gave me a photo update on my cats when I got back into cell phone range after I'd finished tramping. My three cats were well and happy when I got home and the house was very clean and tidy. I'd highly recommend Elena to other house and pet owners.
With a house sitter looking after your pets, house and garden - you can really relax. Happy days.
