We are a well travelled couple of Kiwi and German descent
We have lived and worked in Europe (Germany , Switzerland ) and Western Australia for 20+ years .
In the last 7 years we have lived in Rotorua and more recently Whakatane where we ran an AirBnB on our property.
We are both active and extremely house proud. We are keen gardeners and very able with any odd jobs that need to be done.
We have been married for over 30 years and in that time have both owned and rented properties with glowing references .
Our interests include Gardening, Knitting , Sewing and Cooking.
Rainer plays Guitar and loves to read.
Both AirBnBs we ran we had superhost 5- star rating and occupancy was 80%.
We are open to helping out with AirBnBs as required.
We are fluent in English, German and French.
Bernadette and Rainer were fantastic sitters! The communication from the start was great and regular updates while we were away made us feel at peace. Our cats, as well as the garden and house plants were looked after well and the house was left beautifully. We were very fortunate to have both Bernadette and Rainer sit for us and couldn't ask for anyone better! They really are amazing at what they do.
Bernadette and Rainer have been amazing house, cat and garden sitters. They were extremely attentive and caring of our elderly 24 year old cat which took some effort. They also looked after our home beautifully as well as our gardens which were extremely lush when we arrived home. They communicated with us regularly sending pics and updates which was very reassuring and meant that any anxiety we had about our cat was quickly dissipated. Extremely good communication.
Both cats, and the house, were very well looked after with regular cat photos sent while we were away.
We came home to the lawns mowed, despite it raining almost the entire time they stayed, the bed made, a clean home and very contented cats.
Would definitely use them again.
We were really pleased with the house sitting job Bernadette did for us. The two elderly cats were well looked after and communication was was clear and timely. We would be happy to have her back in the future.
Our house sitters, Bernadette and Rainer, were amazing. They looked after our home as if it were their own. Bernadette tended our garden, making us relish with the beetroot from the garden and planting my Dizzy Lizzy into pots. Even my salt pots are now shiny. Dolly, our cat, was spoiled, and I know she misses Rainer playing with her. We came home to a sparkling, clean, welcoming home and a lovely dinner and spent an enjoyable evening together. Bernadette and Rainer housesat for us for 4 months and looked after the cat. They were quickly able to gain the trust of the timid cat and ensure it got the attention he needed. They sent photos and updates on a regular basis and put our minds at rest concerning the care of the cat. Some household maintenance problems were dealt with as they arose.

Bernadette and Rainer have been fantastic from start to finish. As all first time users of house sitters, we were a bit apprehensive to have someone we didn’t know stay in our house, but we didn’t need to worry.
