Heya! :D
My name is Jake and I live in the Bay of Plenty area.

My working life has mainly consisted of back and forth between the hospitality industry, making coffees or bartending and different kinds of labour work such as landscaping.
Ever since I returned from Christchurch in 2022 I have lived a bit of a nomadic life and have housesat for familiar homes I've been to in the past as well as through this website. I'm just a guy figuring out where I'm meant to be, whether that means settling somewhere in New Zealand or if my fate lies somewhere overseas. But I've been really enjoying meeting everyone and their critters through all of this housesitting :D

I've had a lot to do with animals throughout my life and I love being around them. I've had gorgeous pets of my own (3 Tonkinese cats and cockatiel) as well as fostering a couple awesome puppies while I was studying a few years ago too. I have a qualification in Animal Care for Companion Animals, I have also volunteered at the SPCA and Orana Wildlife Park in Christchurch!

I really enjoy being able to help people have their mind at ease that both their home and friendly fauna are left in good hands. I am a tidy, respectable and caring individual. Your place will be treated with the same respect and cleanliness as if it were my own place.
I do, however, work as a barista at a bakery 5 days a week from 5am till midday. So just as long as your critters are allgood with that timeframe, I am all theirs when I return home to spend time with them :D

Jake looked after our 2 cats very well. Maisie seemed happy, and would come for an occasional head pat after eating! Roly appeared sometimes! I'm sure the sparrows ate well too. The garden was kept well watered and the house clean and tidy (according to our next housesitters who overlapped the housesit until we returned). Thank you for all the texts while we were away and for looking after Maisie, Roly and the sparrows so well.

Jake was a pleasure to have house and cat sit for us and we would happily recommend him for any other house sitting position. His communication was great and his care of our home and more importantly our cat Zoe was brilliant. Zoe was well fed and spoiled and can't stop talking, now we are home. Jake was great came before hand and made sure he knew about everything. He was respectful and left the place tidy and the pets happy.

Jake is very capable and looked after the dogs, cats and house really well. I could see the way he interacted with Smokie and Teddy from the get go that he had a really lovely way with animals and I felt at ease going off and leaving it all in his hands. When I arrived home everything felt very settled and tidy and he'd even taken it upon himself to tidy up the garden a bit for me! Communication was great - very clear and down to earth.
