We are a retired professional couple from Brisbane, Australia, where we’ve lived in a riverside apartment since 1999. While we enjoy the vibrancy of city life, we have a deep appreciation for the charm and slower pace of regional and rural areas, which stems from growing up in small towns in Queensland.

Since retiring in June 2023, we’ve had the opportunity to house-sit in Australia and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Now, we’d like to expand our house-sitting adventures to New Zealand. Having travelled to New Zealand multiple times, we’re eager to explore more of this country at a slower pace, immersing ourselves in local communities and the natural beauty that makes New Zealand so special.

Over the last decade, we’ve embraced opportunities to "live like locals" while traveling, staying in self-contained accommodation, shopping at local markets, and cooking with fresh local produce. These experiences have been highlights of our travels, and we see house-sitting as the perfect way to connect more deeply with a place while providing peace of mind to homeowners.

Carol is an avid photographer who loves capturing everything from macro shots of garden bugs to stunning landscapes under starry skies. Spending more time in one location allows her to fully explore her surroundings through the lens.

While we don’t have a garden in our apartment, we’re experienced with caring for plants and happy to look after gardens, whether it’s watering, weeding, or mowing.
