Hello!
We are a couple from Finland touring beautiful New Zealand for a year on a working holiday visa. We are taking a gap year from our office jobs.
We like to spend our free time in nature, hiking, running, surfing and swimming. That is why we decided to come to New Zealand and move into a van. We also like to go indoor climbing and Johanna does cross stitch in the evenings. We lead a healthy life so we do not smoke, drink alcohol or use drugs. We are currently training for a half marathon.
Tuomas has a lot of experience taking care of pets, especially cats and dogs. His family had dogs when he was a child (Lapponian Herder, Cocker Spaniel, mixed breed) and some cats. He also used to have 3 Cornish Rex cats in his twenties. In the photos you can see Tuomas's sister's dogs (they have 1 Chihuahua, 2 Icelandic Sheepdogs and 4 cats) which he sometimes cares for.
Johanna instead has more experience taking care of plants. She had nearly 80 plants at home. She also used to have 4 mice as pets as a child.
We sat 2 cute dogs in Auckland in April over Anzac weekend, had a 2 month housesit in June-July looking after a dog and a horse in Auckland (this was agreed on another platform), and 2 weeks in Tauranga in August looking after a cat and a chihuahua (see photos). We then came down to South Island and took care of 1 dog, 1 cat and some fish in Christchurch + another week with 1 cat. We still have 2 other sits aligned.
We are currently looking for housesits around Tauranga/Coromandel/Northland/Raglan for January, preferably somewhere where we can get via bus from Auckland after selling our campervan and either have a car to use or possibility to get around by foot or public transport.
