Hi! I'm Mel (33). I've recently relocated to Rotorua for a new job following the completion of my Masters in Christchurch.

I've been a casual house sitter in Christchurch over the last 5 years mainly looking after cats, dogs and chickens. As I am looking to house sit more regularly now, I have joined Kiwi House Sitters.

I grew up always having multiple dogs at home with several being trained for agility:
Ben - Greyhound labrador X
Nesha - Border collie boxer X
Millie - Border collie blue healer X
Mo - Red border collie
Stevie - Red border collie
And have dog sat for a variety of breeds:
German shepherd, Weimaraner, Springer spaniel, Golden retrievers, Fox terrier X, Husky lab X, Whippet, Miniature schnauzer.

Outside of housesitting I enjoy running, pilates, volunteering with DOC and tramping.

Mel looked after our house and 2 pets (cat and dog) whilst we were away on holiday for 7 days. Communication with Mel was easy and she always have prompt replies. Mel is friendly and trustworthy and provided us with updates, photos and asked any questions via messaging services. She accommodated visits from friends who needed to pick up items from the house with very little notice. We returned to two happy pets and a house that was kept in great condition. Mel was fabulous to have care for our pets and home. It was a short stay but her communication and conscientiousness was awesome. I highly recommend her to anyone. The pets were well looked after and we hardly knew she was in the house. We have quirky animals and she managed like a dream.

This is the second time Mel has house-sitted for us, and I couldn't ask for a better house and dog sitter. Communication was brilliant, everything was super easy to organise and most importantly, she took great care of our very loved pets. Highly recommend.

Once again, Mel was the BEST! She's great at staying in touch, replying to queries and responding in a timely manner when I do my first check-in after I've left home. After that, I feel completely confident that my dog is in excellent hands and leave her to it. Upon return, my home is as I left it, I've never had to tidy up anything afterwards, which is fantastic. I highly recommend Mel to anyone who wants peace of mind knowing their pets and their home is well loved and looked after.

Another great house sit from Mel. It was our puppy's first Guy Fawkes, Mel made sure he felt safe and stayed calm throughout the fireworks. She kept us updated throughout the weekend to how our cats and dog were going. When we got home the house looked great and she made sure the garden was watered throughout as well. Highly recommend Mel as a house sitter

Mel was absolutely wonderful, we never got to meet in person, but our house was very tidy and looked after on return, and the dog was very happy to see us. Would happily have you back anytime Mel!

As with a lot of dog parents I worry about my baby the most when going away, Mel was receptive to my notes, our routine and I was so thankful of her care for Loki. He is just coming out of his teenage phase so can be a bit of a goose but I know he would have enjoyed Mel’s company. Highly recommend!

Mel was an absolute star! She was great to communicate with and plan, and as soon as I met her, I felt 100% comfortable having her stay in my home and look after my dog. She left the house better than she found it, and Nuka seemed as happy as always. Mel responded quickly to my check-in text, and gave me a full report afterwards. She noticed Nuka hadn’t eaten a meal (a common occurrence I forgot to warn her about!) but discovered if she stayed near him while he ate, he was more apt to eat. How ... MORE

Mel was a great house sitter. She left the house clean and tidy we hardly knew she even been there and looked after our two cats and dog well. With great communication throughout Can definitely recommend and would use her again.
