Hi my name is Rachel and I'm a full time gardener from the UK. I have a degree in landscape architecture and own my own business, it's a lot quieter in winter though and having recently acquired my New Zealand passport & citizenship I am coming over from mid Jan to enjoy the NZ summer.
My mum is a kiwi and grew up in New Zealand but now lives in the UK. I've got uncles and cousins all over NZ so hoping to travel around seeing them but I'd also like to have some house sits where there's some furry faces to look after.
I consider myself a caring and considerate person.
I'm very good with all animals. A lot of my customers have dogs who I get a cuddle with when I see them. I've kept cats my whole life and a range of other pets too, from rabbits to degus. I currently have a cat and a rabbit here at home who I will miss very much.
When I visited NZ in 2017 I did a couple of house sits through a different website, looking after a dog and 3 cats up in kaitaia and 2 dogs down in Manapouri.
I'll always happily spend time gardening, just let me know what you want doing and depending on how long the sit is I will do my best to fulfil. I'm also quite a practical person. I know lots of plants, including native kiwi ones but would love to expand my knowledge. It's a bit of a dream of mine to work or volunteer in a garden whilst I'm over.
My partner Jack might be coming to join me at some point in the trip if work allows but for the moment it will just be me.
