My name is Rick and I am a 69 year old retired Canadian. My wife, Karen, is 67 and retired also. We both served in the Canadian Armed Forces (23 yrs for me and 10 yrs for my wife) After that we drove transport trucks across North America together for nearly 20 yrs. Both very transient lifestyles. We like to travel light and are looking for peaceful, inexpensive places to enjoy our retirement years. We absolutely love dogs and cats, miss having our own so housesitting part time in our travels helps fill this void. Right now, we are realizing life long dreams to finally visit Australia and New Zealand. We are trying to get a few housesits to help with the extra cost of travelling in these 2 countries.....a lot like Canada these days.... quite expensive while on a fixed income. As tourists, we appreciate the benefit of living in a normal home, in local areas not so overrun by tourists. We aren't interested in checking off all the popular hotspots....just like to get a feel for real life here.
