We’ve worked on numerous farms so bring a good amount of experience. We’re worked on an animal sanctuary, caring for and looking after donkeys, cows, ponies, chickens, duck, geese and dogs. We also tended to the garden and the small vegetable patch growing on the land. We worked on a large strawberry farm, harvesting the plants. Before that, we tended to a Kūmara garden, pruning, cutting and sorting the plants.

We are Layla and Devin, 29 year olds from Dublin, Ireland, currently traveling around beautiful Aotearoa! We've just working on an animal sanctuary in Raglan, and before that we completed planting season on a Kūmara garden in Dargaville. Northland and a strawberry harvest in Bay of Plenty. We learned so much about this country's rich heritage on the farm, and are looking forward to keep learning through new experiences on our travels.
We both are keen animal lovers; and have volunteered in animal sanctuaries as well as done multiple pet sitting jobs in Dublin, and Galway in Ireland for beloved dogs of friends, Harry and Argo, and looking after dear Oona in Brussels for a friend. Layla has also cared for cats her entire life as well, having been best friends with her cat Tyson, Professional McGonigle and Claw.
We’re new to this site - but not new to looking after animals or plants! House sitting is something we’ve done regularly in our hometown of Dublin, around Ireland and across Europe too.
Your pets are precious members of your family, and so we treat them as such; with utmost care, respect and love. We also understand the level of respect for privacy and care required when entering and looking after someone’s home and personal property, so rest assured that we would be mindful and respectful at all times.
We're lucky enough to explore this country in our self-contained campervan. Not only had this opened us up to a world of travel, it's also unlocked a new set of skills for us. We've taken on new projects in the form of bespoke cabinetry and woodwork creation and maintenance, in DIY maintenance of the van, and using crafting materials to make our space homely and cozy. Being creative, moving our bodies and spending time in the sea, sun, and mountains gives us joy!
This year of travel was about being in nature, and reconnecting to our roots in the wild. We're both gardening/farming practices and would love to dedicate a large portion of our time to living in a community where we can learn and do more for sustainable and slow living, all while living harmoniously with and very close to Nature.
Myself and my partner Dev are looking for some enriching, and a way to contribute meaningfully to life here in Aotearoa.
