A married couple, we are parents of two grown children and four time grandparents. When not on the road, we live in our own home located just west of Portland, Oregon USA. We are a professional couple, retired from our corporate jobs. In our spare time we garden, bike ride, walk, read and occasionally pet sit for friends and neighbors.
We thoroughly enjoy traveling to and living in different places, meeting new people, experiencing the scenic beauty and culture of each locale. Over the years we've visited Morocco, New Zealand, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, China, France, Mexico, Guatemala, Belize and Australia. Our favorite travel mode is slow - going somewhere and settling in to enjoy the local customs. Nothing gets you into local culture faster than walking the dog in your adopted neighborhood!
We've owned and maintained our own home since 1985. When raising our children, we hosted many animals in our home while their families went off on vacation. Since 2011, we have completed 34 house / pet sit assignments: four in Mexico, fourteen in Australia, nine in New Zealand, one in France, one on Norfolk Island and five in the USA.
Our next adventure begins in Rangiora on 2-Jan, continues in Oxford on 15-Jan and Whanganui on 17-Feb. We'll finish in Bell Block on 11-Mar. We are still looking to fill a gap in our schedule from 25-Feb to 04-Mar. We couldn't have wished for better house sitters than Mike and Sue. They took excellent care of our "special needs" rescue dog, as well as ensuring that our house, garden and pool were in tip top condition when we returned after nearly 7 weeks away. We recommend them very highly.
Mike and Sue were excellent house sitters. Our cats were not the least bit interested in us when we got home which is a sure sign that they have been well looked after.
They kept us up to date with what was going on in our home and kindly mowed the lawns for us.
The house was lovely and clean and they even made our bed up for us.
Would highly recommend them and hope they enjoy the remainder of their stay in NZ.
Mike & Sue are exceptional housesitters. Both are kind, considerate, polite and trustworthy. While we were away, we were totally uncontactable, but we were secure in the knowledge that Mike & Sue were quite capable of taking care of any situation that may of arose. We came home to a very clean house and a very happy dog! We cannot thank them enough, thanks Mike & Sue!
Mike and Sue were so easy and lovely! They took really good care of our two chihuahuas Edwardo and Tuxedo and our 5 sheep. Great communicators, and they obviously won over the dog's hearts bc even when my husband got home they wanted to be with Mike and Sue! Thank you for being such stars!
What an absolute treat to have Mike and Sue look after our kids . We came home to two very happy puppies and a beautiful house .... even filled with flowers !!!
Along the way they sent us pics of our kids just so we didn't miss them too much ..... they are wonderful people and house sitters ..... welcome back any time !

We were delighted with the exceptional care of both Tipsy and our home by Mike and Sue. Coming back to a happy content pet and a spotless house was bliss. Communication was excellent as was their understanding and handling of our shy cat whom in turn quickly became their friend.

Mike and Sue stayed for a weekend at my house to look after Tammy and keep my newly planted seedlings alive, while I had a brief local trip away. It was a pleasure meeting them and having them stay. My house was spotless when I returned, with beds made, washing done, etc and Tammy clearly well looked after. I really appreciated their thoughtful communication both prior to and after their stay and would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone wanting caring housesitters.
How lucky was I to have two lovely people to mind my house and dog for 3 weeks. Seeing they did not know the South coast area of N.S.W. I loaned them my van to explore the area and go on some walks along the coastline which they really enjoyed. Mike and Sue, house sat for us for an extended period looking after our menagerie of goldfish, 2 cats, 5 chickens and various wild birds that frequent our backyard. We were delighted to find everything in order on our return and all animals alive and happy.
We considered ourselves very lucky to have them housesit for us and wish them well in future house sits.
Michael and Sue took fantastic care of both our house and garden. They've named the birds that visit our garden, and our fish are thriving after their care. These experienced housesitters made the transition home seem as though we'd never left! Food that was there when we left had been replaced with the exact same product/brand, and the house was filled with flowers!
