I am semi-retired, fit and active. I have had dogs all my life and later also cats and chickens. I am confident handling any size dog.
I'm a keen gardener and have a passion for restoring/renovating old houses so am happy to do any gardening work and confident about tackling any issues that may arise with your home while you are away.
Most of my paid work has been in the health and social sector. I no longer go out to work, but continue to work from home researching, writing and advocating in my specialist areas. This means I would be at home most of the time to care for your pets and keep them company.
I hope that you will consider entrusting me with your house and pets while you are away and look forward to meeting you.

It was an absolute pleasure to have Ruth look after our 2 dogs (the girls) and our home. The place was immaculate when we arrived home and the girls almost looked a bit disappointed when we walked in (haha). Ruth was straight onto it when our bigger dog developed a rash that was distressing her (caused by a grass toxin), and made contact with our daughter to discuss options (our ability to communicate was sketchy). Ruth was a wonderful sitter for our 2 cats. She was so kind and patient with both, and won the trust of our very shy boy over the time she sat for us. Communication before, during and after the sit with Ruth was great, including her sending updates and photos. We came home to 2 happy, chilled cats and a spotless house. We would love to have Ruth back to catsit for us again, and definitely will be recommending her.

It was a stroke of luck when we found that Ruth would be available to housesit during our required dates. She is very likable and of course very capable of looking after property and pets. She quickly won the heart of our cat Barney, who can be a bit selective in showing affection. We had a relaxing holiday knowing that Ruth was in charge back at home.

Ruth was a brilliant house sitter whilst I was abroad for 6 weeks and has been added to my dog’s list of best friends. From our initial meeting my dog and I were very comfortable that it would all work out well. The messages and photos every few days were lovely, not daily at my request. Ruth was absolutely great! She promptly came to meet us & I immediately felt very comfortable with her. She looked after our elderly dog & the communication was outstanding, photos & messages almost every day for 4weeks! This was really appreciated & we knew he was being well cared for. 😊 We hope she will be available next time we need a dog sitter. I would absolutely recommend her.

Ruth was fantastic in all respects. Our Schnauzer was very happy and well taken care of and loved while we were away. Ruth had good communication and everything went seamlessly, we had no worries. We are so pleased that Ruth came to house sit for us and more importantly look after Emma our dog. By all accounts they had a wonderful time together and we can tell that Emma was really well looked after. Ruth took the time to regularly keep us up to date and we returned to a very happy dog and clean and tidy house. We will certainly have no hesitation in asking her to look after Emma again and would recommend her to others needing their dogs and house looking after.
