Carol & Brett

Hi, I am a lawyer from Toronto, Canada. I am traveling with my son who is a graduate student in Auckland New Zealand. He is studying to become a high school teacher. We are both true animal lovers, honest, kind, well-groomed and definitely NON smokers. I have also owned and operated a medical clinic for the past 25 years. We plan to travel in New Zealand and Australia during the school break from November to the end of February. We currently have a really cute Havanese dog named "Bunker" and a budgie named "Blue". They will both be at home with my husband and my two other adult children. I wouldn't leave my own pets in a kennel, so I completely understand why you wouldn't do that either!!! We he have had many other wonderful pets including cats. I actually grew up with 5 dogs and a cat, including a german sheppard, labrador retriever, poodle and cairn terrier. We both have never lived without pets for literally our entire lives (and we wouldn't want to!!). One of the reasons that we love pet sitting, is that it allows us to be around animals while we are missing our own at home. I have done many, many pet sits with my husband and many with Brett. We have always received outstanding reviews. Here is the last review that I got on Trusted House Sitters:

"Carol was incredible and by FAR the best pet sitter who has ever cared for my pup. Carol was always taking her on adventures, car rides, to the beach, and anywhere she was going. She updated us frequently and we could tell she was treating Charlie like a queen. She is responsible and very knowledgeable about caring for dogs, she kept close attention of a wound Charlie had and by the time we came home it was entirely healed thanks to her diligence. Also, I made a major mistake with out dates and ended up coming home earlier. Carol was so understanding and calm about the situation which I'm so thankful for. We trusted Carol to use our car for the week and they returned it in spotless condition. Thank you Carol! If you have a the chance to have them watch your animal, don't pass it up."

We love both cats and dogs and have looked after many. We've cared for animals that needed insulin injections, blind and deaf animals, animals that needed regular medication, even one dog that had to have a bath every day due to a bad skin condition. We are up for any challenge! We love to walk if you have an energetic dog that needs to get out a lot. We are also very relaxed travellers and we never try to do too much in a day. In particular, we won't ever leave our home base for more than 3-4 hours at time. We know your pets need us to be around as they need lots of love while they are missing you. Truthfully, I never leave my own dog for more than 3-4 hours, so I wouldn't leave yours either. I know cats are more independent, but they need lots of attention too!

We are very tidy, but bottom line is that we will leave your home cleaner than we found it. Thats just what we do. We will wash all bedding for you and get it all ready for you to come home to.

I also want to mention that we are fine sharing one bed if you don't have two bedrooms. We will also have a comfortable air mattress with us, so Brett would be happy to sleep on that as well.
