Kia ora team,

we're Dani and Marcus - a German couple who decided to leave life in Berlin behind to travel. Back in 2017, New Zealand was our first destination. In fact, we loved it so much (and still do) that we decided to stay.
We are now proud permanent residents of Aotearoa NZ, yay :)

When we originally arrived for our working holiday year, we have travelled (almost) all of the country by doing HelpX (work in exchange for accommodation) and housesits. That way, we built beautiful friendships with Kiwis across NZ and got a really good feel for the people and the culture.
We were lucky enough housesit in the most beautiful places across the country from Tutukaka, AKL, Coromandel, Wairarapa to Nelson, CHCH and QT.

Dani...
does a bit of everything: former German teacher and educator, worked in educational tourism as a programme coordinator in both Germany and New Zealand - until 2020 and NZ closed its borders. She works in Marketing (remotely) since a few years now and has volunteered for different social and environmental projects in NZ, is passionate about sustainability, mindfulness, yoga, Ayurveda and makes her own water kefir.

Marcus...
currently works as a Solution Architecture Lead. Generally, he is very interested in trying new things and discovered his love for cooking a couple of years ago now.
Growing up on a farm he used to fix things in the garage, such as motorbikes or cars. So he's become quite a handy mechanic. He joined MenzShed to play with different building projects and to continuously do little improvements on our campervan.

We both...
LOVE to travel - there is no better way of education and intercultural understanding! There's nothing quite like exploring beautiful coastlines in our camper van.
We both are quite active, love some good exercise, and have a huge appreciation for healthy food and local markets.
We're always up for new adventures - hence we have bought our own home, which needs major renos :)
It won't be a liveable place for quite a while, which is one of the reasons we are looking at continuing our housesit journey. (We might also need some time adjusting to the idea of permanently living in one place ;) )

But most importantly, we take our responsibilities as housesitters just as serious as a good cuddle with fur friends. We've had so many housesits over the years and love getting to know new fluffy personalities.
