I live a bit of nomadic life-style in a campervan, Janis Joplin (she's a Mercedes Benz!) To break up the routine, I like to house-sit occasionally so that I can get out of the van.
I walk religiously. I treat pets as if they were my own, and haven't had any problems yet. (My own dog passed recently which might make you wonder about any references you may read).
I've even cared for horses, sheep, and some cattle (I only had to move them every so often to graze elsewhere).
I'm tidy, willing to do some gardening (I enjoy the exercise and satisfaction it provides), and spend a lot of my time reading and writing. I don't mind going a little bit beyond normal expectations every so often, and have references attesting to that ...
Steve (the Chilled Loner)
Steve was such an awesome housesitter. He took great care of our home and especially our dogs! His dog Myla is such a sweetie and she and our two boisterous dogs got on well. Steve kept in contact letting us know how things were going and provided humorous updates to our daughter who requested he look after her plants (which he did!) Everything was spick and span upon our return.

Steve is a fantastic person and makes great house sitter. He is fabulous with Dogs and has a great knowledge and sense for their wellbeing, happiness and comfort. Steve is practical thorough and had us feeling like our dogs and home were in great hands after we handed the house over to him.
Steve looked after our 3 dogs, house and garden for 4 weeks. He has a natural rapport with dogs and they loved their time with him. He sent us regular photos and videos of their adventures which was very reassuring for us. The house and garden were immaculate when we returned along with 3 extremely happy dogs. We would have Steve back in a heartbeat and hope he is available next time we go away.

Steve is a great house sitter we couldn’t ask for better. He took amazing care of our dogs and they all loved him! The house was immaculate when we got back. He took care of everything really well. We can’t recommend Steve more highly he’s a real gem!!
Steve did a great job of looking after our house and dog. We came home to a clean house and a meal in the freezer which was much appreciated as were the two airport runs.
Unfortunately Steve chose to ignore our instructions regarding keeping our dog on a lead around people's houses. This lead to an incident that resulted in the death of a neighbour's cat, involvement by Animal Control and a hefty fine. "Teddy" is now registered as a menacing dog and cannot easily be taken out in public. ... MORE
My dog really misses Steve and Myla! They did a top job of spoiling him and giving him heaps of walks and company.
The garden was looking lush and green when we returned and the house was lovely and tidy.
We appreciated the updates, they were helpful and timely.
If we get the opportunity to go away again we would definitely get in touch with Steve.
Steve was an excellent house and pet sitter. He provided great communication and I really enjoyed the photos and entertaining posts about my dog Douglas while I was away.
Steve was also very easy to deal with and flexible when my partner had some free time and wanted to pick up Douglas to spend time with him for a day/weekend.
The house and garden was very tidy when I returned, and I am sure Douglas will miss Steve and his lovely dog Myla. I would happily recommend Steve.

My garden was left tidy, lawns mowed and my chickens were well looked after.

Steve and Myla were fantastic company for our fox terrier Lily, and our house and garden were looked after brilliantly during our trip to Australia. Communication was excellent, with regular updates and photos, and Steve was a pleasure to deal with throughout. Steve is a great house sitter, most importantly my dogs were well looked after, and photo updates were sent whilst I was away of them having adventures. Steve's dog Mila is a great little dog, who gets on with everyone, and is happy to share her Dad. The house was tidy when I got home, and Steve even water blasted my tiles whilst I was away. I recommend Steve for house sitting no problem whatsoever!
Steve and Myla were great from start to finish. Initial communication was easy with a phone call and then we met the day before the sit. Myla was friendly with Jack and we knew they would get along well. Steve was really easy to talk with and was happy to take any advice and information regarding Jack and the house. Steve did a great job looking after our house and dog. We got regular updates and clear communication while we were away and found him very easy work with and had plenty of pictures of their various adventures to reassure us.
We were gone 6 weeks and when we returned our dog was happy and healthy, the garden was immaculate and the house clean. Once he had left our dog was very sad to see them gone.
As a first time user of a house sitter I was very anxious about leaving all our worldly possessions in the care of a stranger - Steve very quickly put my mind at ease & did an amazing job of taking care of our lifestyle block for a fortnight going above & beyond his call of duty!
(Not wanting to set expectations too high here - but) on our return the lawns were mowed. - more weeds had been removed than I could've managed - & there were fresh raspberry deserts waiting for us in the fridge!!
