Kia Ora!

We are Caro (20) and Tobi (19), a couple from Germany currently traveling through New Zealand. Since early September, we’ve had amazing opportunities to work with and care for animals.

Caro spent two months on a horse farm in Christchurch, where she looked after 21 Icelandic horses, three cows, and 15 chickens. During a recent housesit in Alexandra, we cared for two dogs, a cat, six chickens, and a herd of cows. Additionally, we helped a local with gardening tasks and looked after their rabbit. These experiences taught us the importance of adapting to each animal's routine and reliably sticking to it. We know how essential consistency is for their well-being, and we always strive to ensure that every animal feels comfortable, secure, and well-cared for.

We both love spending time with animals and enjoy giving them the attention they need. However, we always let them set the pace—especially cats! If they want cuddles or playtime, we’re more than happy to oblige, but we’d never force interaction. We believe in respecting each animal's personality and boundaries.

We are responsible, tidy, and organized and always make sure to leave a home as clean as (or cleaner than!) we found it. Personality-wise, we’re friendly and easygoing. Tobi is calm and reliable, while Caro loves going on adventures and exploring the outdoors, often taking dogs along for hikes.

Housesitting gives us a chance to enjoy some settled time during our travels while spending time with animals we adore. We both enjoy reading, planning our travels, and relaxing in the evenings with our furry companions.
