Manawatū-Whanganui - Ruapehu
saskia
We are looking for someone to look after our dogs (Cooper, Ash and Nugget) and our cat Mini. They live with us at our 2 bedroom property in Rangataua, near Ohakune. Their yard is about half an acre, with vegetable garden and fruit trees. Also on the property we have chickens who have their own run and will supply whoever looks after them with eggs.
They dogs are accustomed to one or two walks daily, either together or enjoying some alone time. Our special girl Ash will have to be walked on lead at all times when outside the property as she is deaf. This doesn't hinder her, but might need some adjustment from the humans living with her. She's very affectionate and responds well to hand signals. All dogs are inside dogs and love their cuddles on the couch.
Our cat Mini has her own room as her and Ash are not always on the best of terms, she can come and go as she pleases and you might not see a lot of her in the beginning.
Chooks love their weeds fresh and the occasional vege scraps, keep their feed stocked up and supplied with adequate water.
As we are on the southern side of Mt Ruapehu, you will have a great opportunity to explore the beautiful Tongariro National Park with loads of walks and several great mountain bike trails (unfortunately the park is no dogs allowed). We are centrally located between Whanganui, Palmerston North and Taupo, all within 2hrs drive. Ohakune is about 5km away for your daily groceries or a nice dinner out.
We prefer a couple without (young) children as the dogs aren't used to them and especially Ash can react unpredictable around them.
Cooper is a kelpie, Ash a blue heeler and Nugget their daughter a mix who looks very much like her dad.
