Hi there. Looking for a sitter to hang out with Mike, our 8-year old pug cross over the summer holidays. Dates are flexible - can start as early as 26 Dec and go to 21 Jan, whatever suits.

Mike is a low maintenance creature who just needs a stroll and lots of love. He is a very companiable little dog and likes to play with squeaky toys, go for car trips, and cuddle. He sleeps at the foot of the bed so if you're not comfortable with that then I'm afraid that would be a dealbreaker for Mike. During the day he is rarely far away from human company and usually dozes on the couch while I work. If you have always wanted a hungry shadow that constantly looks somewhat alarmed, this sit is for you.

No serious gardening needed other than mowing the lawn. I do have a number of houseplants so a plant lover would be great but not essential. I have no fancy plants or fancy skills.

The house is in a quiet cul de sac in a peaceful suburb. 2 bedrooms and study upstairs, 2 living areas and open plan kitchen/dining downstairs. Good wifi (fibre) and the usual streaming services - Netflix, Neon and Disney+.

I am including a few photos of Mike in various spots in the house (including the back of the couch where he has pretty much nested). I also added a few photos of the outside of the house to give some idea of the setting. The house borders on a small park that leads onto the Manawatu River - the photo that shows the park and the path up the stop bank was taken from the back door. Back garden gate leads straight onto the park. We're by no means rural, but you are more likely to hear tuis than traffic. The river walkway runs several km in both directions, and is lovely for walking or cycling.

The house is not be suitable for families with small children - there is an open staircase between the master bedroom and the other bedrooms, so if a little person wakes up and wanders out of the room there is no gate at the top of the stairs.
