Wellington - Lower Hutt
Sarah
Our dog is Merlin, a greyhound, and he loves people!
He requires 2 x 30 minute walks a day: one in the morning once you get up and usually he'll start giving you a look from around 4pm each day for his afternoon walk!
Most of the time he is a couch potato and doesn't move from his bed! He walks with a harness and we prefer to walk him carrying a muzzle to keep him and other dogs safe. he's not aggressive, but can take offence to smaller, yappier dogs (he never raced but still has the greyhound brain!). We also have a lot of roaming dogs in the neighbourhood and we just like to be safe, responsible owners.
We don't want him let off lead either.
He goes in cars fairly easily, with a homemade step, but there is no need to take him far for a walk as the Hutt River path is less than 20 minutes away by foot.
He sleeps through the night generally, though on odd occasions has to get up for a bathroom trip, but he'll let you know. He eats breakfast when he feels like it, or doesn't bother, but definitely has dinner in the evening. He's not particularly treat or toy driven, but loves his walks and lots of pats. He just loves people big and small and loves to push himself through your legs 😂
We live in a townhouse within the suburb of Taita. It's 10 minutes walk from either Taita or Pomare railway station so really easy to get into Wellington city centre, Upper Hutt or the Wairarapa by train.
There is parking but it's on-street and limited, so you may end up parking on a nearby street.
Our townhouse has 3 storeys, with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Being able to use stairs is a must.
The main bedroom is on the top floor and has a king bed with en-suite, with the second bedroom on the middle floor having a cot and a bathroom next door. There is a small sofa in this room and we could also provide an inflatable queen sized mattress if required.
There is also a desk and work chair available for use.
Our kitchen/lounge area is altogether, and there is a chromecast on the TV you can use, along with the wifi.
All crockery and kitchen appliances are available.
The house gets morning sun and afternoon sun, so there are chairs for use to sit out and enjoy it. There also a BBQ available for use.
There may be plants that need watering outside, but there are a few houseplants inside to keep watered, although maybe not every day during the stay.
We live in a development with other people so noise levels should be kept to a sensible level.
The houses themselves are fairly soundproof inside, but you do hear the train as it runs just behind the house.
If you'd like more photos, let me know. Since we last had housesitters we've had a baby, so a nice tidy photo of rooms is pretty tricky!
