Pet sitting & House sitting job in Manawatū-Whanganui
Manawatū-Whanganui - Palmerston North
Sylvia
House: Scenic, neat and comfortable 3 bedroom/2 bathroom, located on a large semi-rural section surrounded with native trees/birds, mountain views and a private pond on site. Well set up with super king bed, espresso coffee machine, dishwasher, unlimited high speed wifi, heat pump/aircon, washing machine, automatic robo vacuum etc. We also have a study, scenic yoga spot and extra queen bed/room if needed. You would have the entire house and garden to yourself.
Pets: We have 5 friendly free-ranged layer chickens and 2 affectionate retired greyhounds; "Dapper Danny" (10yo male) & "Ruru" (4yo, 3 legged, female).
Requirements: The chickens are low maintenance as they're free ranged 24/7, you simply need to top up the automatic feeder/water dispenser approximately every 2-3 days and they will provide you with delicious fresh eggs - Albeit after an egg hunt first!
Some indoor plants that may need the occasional watering. We have a contractor for mowing so this shouldn't be required.
We usually do a ~15min dog walk, morning and night, they don't need a lot of exercise, simply a little outdoor exploration is all they're after (so whether its a 5min walk or a 50min walk, it is entirely up to you!). The dogs are fed twice a day. They are sweet and sooky, can easily be left throughout the day whilst you explore but we would like someone who can be with them at night.
Ruru is a young, confident, sweet princess with anyone she meets, who despite her 3 legs doesn't let life bring her down.
Danny has had long, tough racing career and as a consequence, can be a nervous-nelly in his retirement. He does love people and we would say he's quite the ladies man, so is more comfortable/confident around females than males. Likewise, although he is a gentle giant with kids, he does find them overwhelming and often hides away in their presence, for this reason we sadly will have to decline young/loud families for this sensitive old boy - sorry!
Lastly, they are both ex professional trained racing hounds, thus cats, rabbits and small dogs are a no go sadly.
Surrounds: We are located 20m between Palmerston North and Levin in the small village of Tokomaru. We are within a 2min walk from the local shop, take away, school/playground/tennis court, and a 4min drive from the native reserve walk and river swimming hole.
Although the garden doesnt need attending to, we do have some fresh produce and fruit trees on the property also.
We have an insured reliable vehicle available to use if needed.
Thank you!
Sylvia & Monty
(Ps. Photos of sheep are our neighbours over the fence, no need to care for them. Also one picture of the local river down the road)
NB: Apologies to anyone who made contact to our previous ad, as an unexpected bereavement leave cancelled our original plans.
