Hello!

We have a lovely sunny home in Rangiora and require a reliable and responsible house sitter for our cat, Smudge over Christmas period - start and end date can be approximate as he can do okay for a day or two alone.

Smudge, our rescue cat is loving, but takes some time to warm up to strangers and can be timid initially warms up to strangers after a day or so. He does not like children. He is independent and has a cat door so if you are out for long periods, that's fine.

We have everything you should need to have a comfortable Christmas if you wish to have it at our home.

We do have a dog, but we are hoping to take him with us on holiday.

We had a very relaxing stay as it was a very easy care home, section and cat. The neighbourhood was very quiet and peaceful. Olivia and Jim left clear instructions in addition to our initial pre-sit visit. We found this a very pleasant introduction for us to house sitting.

Smudge was a dream to look after. for 3 weeks. He's a very cool wee dude and had us wrapped around his paw very quickly. He is a grazer but loved to ask for his wet food morning and night. Think he stole a piece of Bruce's heart! Our hosts generously gave us their king bed to use. The house was warm and comfortable and Olivia had put up their Christmas tree specially for us. Olivia and Jimmy are such a nice hospitable couple. Olivia left super clear instructions on how to care for Jess the dog and Smudge the cat. Jess loves company but likes her personal space, however we managed to hit the sweet spot so she even asked for more scratches. Smudge loves exploring the outdoors, but he came indoors for the night and loved to play and cuddle then. So glad that the beautiful pets warmed up to us on the first day.
