Newtown

Kia ora!

My partner (Favio) and I are headed overseas to visit our families over the Christmas break. We will be gone from December 10th-January 23rd. We are looking for a person/couple to look after our cat/home/plants while we are away. Our home is located in Newtown, Wellington. We are a 6 minute walk to New World, 12 minute walk to Countdown, and 7 minute walk to the hospital. There are heaps of bus routes nearby that can take you into the city (1, 3, 18, 23, 29, 32X) and lots of yummy cafes if you prefer to stay in Newtown.

We have a 1 bedroom/1 bathroom home with an attic upstairs. There is a spacious kitchen with an airfryer, toaster, kettle, instant pot, and multi-purpose blender. The living room has a large couch and TV with Netflix, AppleTV and Disney+.

There is a sunny backyard space with a picnic table and a wee garden where we are currently growing some veggies. The landlord pays for someone to mow the backyard so no worries about the grass. If there is very little rain, the outdoor veggies would need a water once a week. You are more than welcome to eat the fresh veggies. We will be growing tomatoes, lettuce, spinach, and some herbs. We also have a few indoor plants that will likely need watering once-twice per week.

Parking: We live on the West side of Newtown. Our street currently has a time limit of 180 minutes Monday-Friday between 8am-8pm. There is restriction free parking on the East side of Newtown if you need to park your car somewhere for longer.

The most important part of the housesit is taking care of our furbaby, Kikita. She is a 2 year old tabby cat who loves cuddles and chasing bugs. She won't take long to warm up to you and loves sleeping next to our feet. She is an indoor/outdoor cat who wanders freely in and out of the cat door during the day. She typically sleeps on the bed at night. We feed her twice per day- once in morning and once in the evening. She would be okay if you wanted to go away for a night as long as she has enough food and water.
