Our dog (Aroha) is almost 5 years old. She is a labrador x huntaway and has a very lovely, gentle temperament. We have a lovely, comfortable home in a beautiful spot in Long Bay, North of Auckland.
Aroha is a very active dog and needs to have 2 walks a day of at least one hour each. There are plenty of places to walk nearby, including beaches, bush reserves, and grassy areas. She is not used to being on her own much as I work from home much of the time. We would love someone to be able to be at home with her as much as possible while we are away and take her on the twice daily walks that she is used to.
We’re planning on going away over Christmas from 22nd dec to 1st or 2nd Jan and then again from 5th Jan to 12 Jan. We’re looking for a sitter to stay at our house to care for our girl and take her on lots of walks during the time we are away.
Please note, we will need to be home 2nd to 5th Jan, so the sitters will need to find an alternative place to stay over those days.

Aroha is the most sweet natured and playful dog we've ever looked after, she was such a pleasure to look after and we were so sad to leave her. Rachael's house is lovely, clean and has a relaxing vibe and the family were so friendly and accommodating to ensure we enjoyed our stay. The location is incredible being so close to beaches and bush walks, we thoroughly enjoyed our housesit there.
We had an amazing time at Rachael's. She and her family are super friendly and welcoming hosts and the communication with them was great :) They gave us very useful information to help with looking after their house and Aroha, both verbally and written. The house is cozy, warm, makes you feel at home and the neighborhood is quiet and there are some cafes, bakeries and shops nearby. Regarding Aroha, she is such a lovely and active dog! I loved my stay at Rachael & Michael's place. They were extremely welcoming. Aroha is lovely amazing dog. She takes commands very well and is very energetic specially when sees seagulls. The house location is fantastic and handy to public transport. There are many eateries and beaches around. Thank you for a very pleasant stay.
House sitting is a fun, immersive way to experience this magnificent country - without paying a cent for accommodation!
