We are lifestyle farmers who have sheep (50 ewes and 100 lambs) at the time of the house sit. These will be very easy care with a daily check and occasional paddock change. We also have awesome neighbours who are happy to lend a hand if anything goes wrong. We live 5 mins drive to Milton township and 40 mins to Dunedin. We have a very happy, affectionate and geriatric farm dog who needs a small amount of walking every day, with arthritis medication given daily in a saveloy. Our cat is at present missing but we haven't given up hope that he may come home. We really would like housesitters to welcome him back if he returns. He is typical farm cat who is his own man, affectionate when he choses but often aloof.. We have hanging baskets and some container plants that need daily watering. Our 15-year-old home is warm with heating mainly from a fire. There is loads of firewood. There is also unlimited wifi, Sky, Netflix and gas cooking and hot water as well as electricity (of course).
Don and Ali have a really beautiful, tidy new home up a hill with a nice view of the surrounding area. The home is close to Milton where you can get take away and groceries. Ali gave clear instructions and the communication was easy.
Tim(the dog) is very friendly and affectionate and was easy to care for. I would do this house sit again.
A big thank you to Ali and Don for letting us look after their house and garden. We loved their dog, Tim. He was so much fun and so well behaved. We really appreciated how Ali and Don went the "extra mile" to ensure we enjoyed our stay and could find everything we needed.
It was a real pleasure to meet Ali & Don (and daughter by email contact) They left clear instructions and also kindly explained and showed me around to meet pets Lucy, a sweet cat who loves being around you, her cuddles and laptime. Tim is such a good dog and really enjoys his daily walks. The ewes and lambs were easy to look after and shift as well. They have friendly neighbours around. Thank you Ali & Don for entrusting Mike and I with your gorgeous home, pets and livestock. We had the most amazing four week stay and would highly recommend a housesit here to any potential sitters. Sunrises were spectacular from their perfect vantage on a hill in Milton. Tim the farm dog is adorable, intelligent and so obedient and Lucy the cat is talkative and very affectionate.
