Waikato - Taupo

Olya & Alex

We are heading away and are looking after someone to stay in our house and look after our dog while we are gone.

We are fairly central in Taupo, a nice stroll to the lake (1.5km) or a short drive (4km) to town. We have a guest room that will be yours to use, a fireplace, outdoor bath, Netflix. Our house has native bush surroundings and privacy in the middle of suburbia - wake up to birdsong!

Our dog Jedi is 4 years old, and a medium dog - border collie x whippet. He is playful and loves visitors and pats and attention, as well as lazying on the couch. He is a big fan of walks and we would hope for him to get some love & attention while we're away!

Jedi is an independent dog and enjoys his own space however, and for that reason our house won’t be suitable for other animals or young children.

We have a good amount of house plants and a small veggie garden and would appreciate if those were also looked after :)

Wonderful communication prior with a discussion over the phone, an info sheet emailed ahead of time, all very much appreciated. Information even included local walks and indicated which ones required dogs to be on lead, or were able to be off lead - fantastic for someone like myself not familiar with the area. Jedi is utterly gorgeous and I loved spending time with him. He was very well behaved on walks and listened to commands. I would happily sit Jedi again.

We really enjoyed our time looking after Olya and Alex’s home and their dog Jedi :-) to begin with Jedi was quiet, but he warmed to us after a day or so. After this time he would regularly approach us for attention and cuddles and we were always happy to reciprocate :-D he was incredibly well behaved and has clearly been trained so well… I’d go as far to say that Jedi is the best behaved dog we’ve ever walked! Great house sit experience! Jedi is super friendly and energetic, and knows his commands. Olya and Alex are very friendly and the communication is fluid. The house is cozy and has everything for a comfortable stay. Would recommend it to anyone :)

Jedi is such an easy going boy! Loves his walks, knows his commands, and was a joy to spend time with. The house is beautiful and private. Had easy and quick response communication with the family at any time. Would definitely recommended this house sit!

We were very comfortable here and particularly enjoyed relaxing on the back deck among the native bush and birdsong. There were loads of great walking options for Jedi who was very easy to look after. We will miss him a lot! The number of board games and culinary ingredients blew our minds!! Alas we didn’t get around to experimenting with either. And Lego flowers - who knew? Thank you for having us!

Thank you for taking such good care of Jedi & our house! Unfortunately with being overseas we were reliant on unreliable wifi for communication.
It was a pleasure to look after Jedi and the house. Olya and Alex's place is a true gem surrounded by nature but also not to far from the city centre. We spent a couple of peaceful days at their place and felt very comfortable and relaxed. But the best part was spending time with lovely Jedi who was really easy to get along with! We would definitely stay longer at Olya and Alex's place. Their home is peacefully secluded in a cul de sac surrounded by nature. They explained us everything needed before they left, making our stay effortless. Jedi is so adorable and easy to care. We walked a lot and played like kids with him; he is super entertaining. Thank you for letting us stay in this little piece of paradise.

Jedi the dog was great to look after, it took a little while to warm up to us, but pretty soon we were best friends. Jedi was great to have off the leash on the huka falls walk, and enjoyed a good pat or two. Olya and Alex's house was a great wee spot. Nestled in amongst some fantastic greenery and a very impressive range of board games. Would happily housesit again for them.
