Northland - Whangarei
Kelly
Our house is a 106m2 north-facing 3-bedroom house. It is approx 3km from the main road and is not in sight of the road which makes it very peaceful. The section is approx 2Ha in size which I guess makes it a 'lifestyle' property, but instead of filling it with stock, we have spent years planting native trees and relatively large vegetable plots and a food forest. We are vigilant when it comes to weed and pest control and strive to turn this once-paddock back into a lush and diverse haven.
The local Parua Bay village has a 4 Square and a couple of cafe's. There's also the boat ramp, school and PB Tavern within a short driving distance. The end of our road has a walking track through to Pataua North. Whangarei Heads is also home to some world class golden beaches, great for swimming and surfing and the Whangarei Harbour which is great for snorkeling and fishing. There are also plenty of beautiful short walks with epic views of the peninsular, harbour and east coast.
We have one very affectionate Flemish Giant rabbit who requires water, fresh greens and some pellets daily. He'd appreciate a good nose-to-bum pat whenever you're available for it too.
I'm an enthusiastic organic vegetable gardener and I struggle to leave my garden without care for such a long period of time. If I could find a suitable house-sitter that could irrigate that would be ideal. Also, someone who would use our ride-on to mow lawns, with a little instruction would be fantastic. That way we won't return to the usual over-grown jungle.
Our place is ideal for someone happy to get away from the crowds, and relax in a sheltered, warm spot with a good book. Or if you need to work, we can offer a home office and unlimited wi-fi.
Also the border collie pictured out the front of the house will be coming with us on holiday so there's no need to have sitters for her thanks.
