Auckland - Auckland - North
Pippa
Thought this was all sorted with a confirmed sit but sitter now unavailable so starting again 😢
Kumeū is a 25-minute drive from the central city Auckland when the traffic is good! A blend of rural and urban Kumeū's heart is bustling with specialty shops, restaurants, cafes, and vineyards, Woodhill Forest is a 15 min drive, which offers mountain biking, horse trekking, paintballing, and treetop activities and a short drive to several black-sand beaches along the west coast, such as Bethells Beach and Muriwai.
We live 5 minutes' drive to Kumeu/Huapai central on a lifestyle block (2.5ha) which has a fully contained tiny house (not currently occupied), shed and a two-year-old architecturally designed home to make the most of light and space. We share the space with our two dogs, Leo a Maremma (3 years) and Zoe a springer spaniel (10 months). There are normally a couple of horses as well however they will spend this time being cared for off the property. The dogs are outside dogs, sleep in the shed overnight however very much part of the family and love their morning walk (30-45 minutes) and often an evening trek up the paddock. Both love cuddles and Zoe loves to play with the ball. Leo is a guardian and takes his role seriously and can take some time to adjust to change. They love it when we are pottering about outdoors and are constant companions. We are usually onsite, working from home apart from a couple of half days which would be our preference in a house sitter.
A three-month overseas sabbatical is an exciting opportunity however our animals are a big part of our life and leaving them in someone else's care is a big challenge for us. You would need to be experienced and confident with big dogs (he is a gentle giant) and an adolescent energetic aquatic loving springer.
If you like gardening, there is plenty to keep you occupied however we will look to get someone in to look after lawns and maintenance.
We were thinking of having a week before we go where you could live in the tiny house (we lived here for 18 months while the house was being built -fully self contained) so you could get to know the dogs and walks etc however open to suggestions on the best way to do this. Then you are welcome to move up to the house. Apart from getting the spasmodic mail (or I can put it on hold), putting out rubbish/recycling bins the main thing would be having happy dogs.
