We need a house sitter

Wellington - South Wairarapa

Louise

Am going to a dog show in Levin with three dogs leaving three behind.
Accommodation is a self contained cottage attached to the main house but accessed separately. Bedroom, bathroom, kitchen-diner and sitting room with fab views across the valley. The dogs live in the main house of which there is full use. Coffee machines in cottage and house. Netflix, Amazon Prime and Internet. We are on a hill overlooking the valley and the Tararuas beyond - set in 3 hectares of trees and pasture. Surrounded by native plants, tuis, bell birds, more porks and the occasional kingfisher. A degree of physical fitness is needed as the house is on a hill.
8km to Carterton. 5 minute drive to Gladstone wineries, Inn and Carter Scenic Reserve. Castlepoint is 90 minutes away with beaches at Lake Ferry and Riversdale 45’.
Three Kaimanawa horses from the 2021 muster. Mare, 6yo and 4 and 3yo daughters. Mare has just been broken in to ride. A calm and confident horse person could groom and pick hooves and change rugs, but otherwise just feeding twice a day and checking.
Also 2 pigs, 6 arapawa sheep a jersey cow, 4 turkeys. 2 roosters and 6 hens.
All the animals are fed twice a day. There is a feed room attached to the horse shelter and feed bins in the bird area. Poo picking in the horse shelter field as required. Water buckets need scrubbing and filling daily. Tap and hose on site.
Some watering required if no rain - pots and setting orchard irrigation overnight as well as watering greenhouse and central garden area.

We had great time looking after Louises lovely bunch of animals. Pigs and horses were especially good sport and it was lovely to sit around on the paddock with the animals, both in the mornings and in the evenings. We also went out for star safari closeby and went cycling some times.

MEERI (Nov 2023 - 4 nights)
Always lovely to house sit for Louise and her flock of animals!!

ABIGAIL (Oct 2023 - 4 nights - 1 of 2 endorsements from this sitter )
Absolutely fantastic house sit. Louise provided very detailed instructions for looking after the animals/property, and was quick to respond when contacted. Svenja the street dog and Millie the jersey cow were definitely a highlight, they are both so sweet. The guest house is very comfortable and easy to keep warm, the property has a couple of quirks but they're covered well in the instructions. Beautiful views and a very short drive to some amazing real fruit ice cream (although you probably ... MORE

I loved staying at Louise's house, it was a wonderful oasis with the sweetest crowd of animals. Good communication and great dinner the night before she left. Would be back anytime :)

Everyone was content when I arrived home - the dogs more or less ignored me! You are welcome back anytime
We enjoyed our rural housesit. Louise did a great job of showing us on Thursday afternoon, what we needed to do while she was away. She cooked us a lovely dinner on Thursday night. Our cottage was cozy and comfortable and we enjoyed the unexpected goodies she had left for us. Her Skye Terriers were adorable and it was nice to be around farm animals again.

FERRIDA (Aug 2022 - 4 days)
Louise is the generosity in person, her place is beautiful and the guest's cottage is very comfortable and with anything you need for a nice stay, long or short. All the indications she gave us were very clear and in case of doubts she was always available and ready to help. It was a pleasure to look after all the animals, they are very friendly and funny. We enjoyed a lot this experience. Highly recommended. and we feel lucky to have met a person like Louise.

IMANOL AND CESARE (Jul 2021 - 1 months)
We really enjoyed housesitting for Louise! And spending time with her lovely doggies. The property is a magical oasis tucked away in the mountains with natives, fruit trees, and beautiful views. It was such a pleasure as the communication was so easy and she was such a generous host. We really felt cared for the entire time and would love to house sit for her in the future! Thank you!

MAKENA (May 2021 - 4 days)
Thank you - you are welcome back anytime. L
It was a pleasure to house/pet sit here, and a great break from the city. We enjoyed spending time in the large garden, feeding the chooks and relaxing with a cup of tea on the deck. The property has a beautiful outlook over Carterton valley. The dogs were friendly and so easy to care for. We would housesit again as it was a lovely time. We loved all the fruit trees and native plants too. Anthony enjoyed making citrus juice.

MEL (Feb 2021 - 2 days)

VIVIAN (Dec 2020 - 3 days)
Louise lives in a unique and gorgeous property on the outskirts of Carterton with a stunning view of the Wairarapa mountains. We were looking after two of her four dogs whilst she was away with her other two, as well as keep on eye on the chickens, sheep, one cow and garden. Communication from Louise was always friendly and quick and everything we needed to do was communicated as well as local hints about restaurants and places to visit. Svenja and Sisu, the two dogs we looked after, ... MORE

ELLEN (Jul 2020 - 4 weeks)
We felt very welcome when we first arrived to meet Louise and her furry family. She explained everything in detail and we had good communication with her whilst she was OS. Her three dogs were wonderful company and a pleasure to look after, well-mannered and sweet natured. The property is intriguing and a peaceful location.

MONICA (May 2019 - 2 weeks 6 days)
We had a wonderful five day house sit for Louise. Great communication made for a very easy set up for our visit. The dogs are such characters and adorable. With easy access to the garden they are fairly independent but enjoyed their daily walks at the local reserve. Instructions for feeding all the animals and watering the plants were straight forward. The house is in a lovely setting overlooking the valley, a few miles out of Carterton. There are many local attractions and good ... MORE
