Looking for someone to stay with our cat and dog while we are away the week of the Nelson Anniversary and Waitangi Day holidays. We’ll be away about a week, but exact dates are tentative at this stage. We will be tramping for some of the time and want to find the best weather window for that.

Lizzie is a sweet 14-year-old tabby. She's cautious of new people, but a real smoocher once she gets to know you. She will probably curl up on your lap during the evening if you're sitting reading or watching something. She will definitely be keen to sleep on the bed at night.

Abbie is a nearly 9-year-old, medium-size, mixed-breed dog, a true "SPCA-special". She's always ready for any activity or game on offer, but very relaxed and cruisey around home. She's easy to manage if she gets a minimum 30-minute walk every day, plus at least one big outing each week (beach trip, or hill hike).

The house is a comfortable, modest 1950's suburban home with sunny lounge and verandah. There is a dedicated yoga room (fully equipped) which sitters are welcome to use. The section has lots of established trees, a private backyard and a sunny front deck. The small vege garden will need daily watering and there are also a few house-plants to keep an eye on.

We had a wonderful time sitting for Susan and Carrie. Their house is lovely and in a great location for exploring Nelson, and we really enjoyed taking Abbie to the beach and on the nearby bush walks. Abbie is an absolute sweetheart, she is smart and well behaved and we loved getting out to explore with her, and Lizzie is very sweet and affectionate (when she feels like it of course!) Susan and Carrie are so lovely and made us feel at home straight away, and great with communication. They left us yummy cherries and chocolates for Christmas -so thoughtful! Lizzie was fantastic to look after and loved a good scratch and cuddle, and she is so well behaved -you have no idea! The location of the house is ideal - close to the CBD but not that close to be noisy. Tahunanui beach is very close and it is just ideal for sunsets. This was a really special housesit for me, I had the privilege to take care of the best behaved dog I have ever met, beautiful Abbie. I fell hard for her and we were inseparable all week. Abbie lives with Lizzie the cheeky cat in a lovely home that's absolutely sparkling clean. Abbie's humans are some of the nicest people I have ever met.
