We need a house sitter

Taranaki - South Taranaki

Hi there,
My husband and I live on a lifestyle property in South Taranaki on a quiet road near Normanby. 10 mins drive to our local town Hawera, 3 mins drive to Normanby Dairy, Takeaway, butcher, 5 mins drive to Tawhiti Museum, which is a must see.
Dam dropping is just around the corner if you are an adventure seeker.

We are looking for person/people who love animals and the country for when we go away.

We have 3 dogs, 5 cats, 1 galah, 3 Kune-Kunes, 2 goats several chooks, and dry stock.
Not absolutely necessary to move the dry stock as I can get someone to do that, but it would be a great advantage. We have added an extra night as we like people to come the day before to run through our feeding the zoo routine. We will be available to contact while away if need be as we are just going to the South Island.
I worry about my pets especially my dogs 1x old black Labrador (F), 1x mixed breed,(F) and 1x Jack Russell (M )who have a tendency to fret when we are away.
The dogs are very easy going and the cats come and go, as they have important roaming to do on the farm let. They sometimes can be found up the back in the old cowshed napping in the hay or just relaxing on top of the parrot cage. or in the garage..
My dogs sleep inside at night so need company in the evenings and at night time. They do have a routine for feeding, comfort breaks, and bedtime.
Our home is a warm and comfortable home we have just had a fire fitted last winter which keeps the house cosy. We do have a gas heater also.
Normanby is in the heart of a dairying community, but is also close to our beautiful mountain which is about 30 mins drive, and can also be seen from our lounge. The beach is about 10 mins drive.
Once the animals are fed which takes 20 mins daily tops, you are free to relax and do what ever you want.
We are 1 hours drive to Whanganui and 45 mins to New Plymouth.
Lovely comfy queen sized bed in a quiet room.

We had a good time sitting for Shona and Marty. They are very kind and hospitable, allowing us to stay an extra night. Keep in mind that this is a farm and it comes with all the farm attributes (feeding pigs and chicks is very fun!). Cats are minding their own business and very little maintenance. Dogs were well-behaved and obedient (mostly). Some of their personalities: Labrador Darcy is young and energetic, often demanding to play. One of our best housesitting definitely! Shona and Marty are super nice. They even let us stay an extra night because it was more convenient for us. All their animals are lovely. We just started every day with a good energy because of their animals. Feeding the cats and then the farm animals, the goats are super sociable and the pigs love a scratch, it was very cool. Loved the house sitting for Shona & Marty. The dogs and cats were awesome to look after all with unique personalities. The chickens, pigs, goats and cows were easy to look after. Great communication from both Shona and Marty. Would love to house sit for them again.

No rating I had a great time. Shona and Marty are lovely people, friendly and relaxed. They insisted I stay before and after their trip, and fed me. The animals are all easy care - the cats and dogs like a pat and an ear rub, and the chooks gave me an egg most days. Location is perfect for exploring Taranaki, with am awesome they of the mountain (weather permitting)

Thanks Haydn, you left a broken hearted girl here, she spent most of the afternoon going backwards and forwards to the lounge looking out the window, waiting for you to come back.
Loved sitting for Shona and Marty, the animals were all characters in their own right which I really enjoy when house sitting. Robyn and Marty were so friendly and helpful which made for a stress free time for me and their lovely modern house was a joy to be in. Another bonus was that you could sit in the lazy boy chair in the lounge and look out the window at Mt Tarankai through a framed view off the fence. Shona and Marty are very lay-back and welcoming and made us feel completely at home. in their comfortable home with a magnificent view of Mt Taranaki. But the best thing about this sit were the super-affectionate and well-behaved dogs, each with their own personality, and the the beautiful cats, especially the lap-loving Maisy. But we enjoyed the gorgeous parrot too, and all the hungry farm animals - feeding time was something to behold! We miss them all.! Ann and Bret
