Hi! I'm heading up to Whangarei for two nights away and would love to find a dog lover to look after my dog in my one-bedroom home while I'm away.
I'm in the Pukehangi suburb of Rotorua. It's a quiet neighbourhood on a cul de sac with mountain and rural views. The house is warmed with your choice of heat pump or pellet burner, has modern appliances and is decorated mainly in a quirky mix of vintage and retro.
My dog is a 3 year old, large, mixed breed with a very friendly temperament and goofy antics (he's a talker!). He LOVES attention.
The yard is fully fenced for active play outside. He is kept inside the house while I'm at work and overnight. He does NOT sleep on the human bed and is not allowed on the couch.
He does tend to bark at people walking by and at roaming neighbourhood cats, but this is mainly when he's outside. When that happens I call him in with a whistle or two and "Inside!" command. He's pretty responsive to that.
He is quite a low maintenance! No dog walking will be necessary (his leash etiquette is atrocious (my fault!). He's fed twice a day.
You don't have to stay home all day with him, he can cope very well for up to 9 hours in the house alone without a toilet break. He's a good boy!
Oh, and I should probably 'warn' you, I have no TV.
A fantastic and detailed handover from Lyn. It was great to meet Nuka ahead of time as well. He is an affectionate giant with a big smile - we had a lovely time. Would recommend sitting Nuka.

Lyn and Roger were an absolute pleasure to sit for. Lyn's house is beautifully decorated, comfortable, and an easy drive to the center of town. Roger was the most well-behaved, calm, and loving pup we've ever sat for! He was very easy to take care of, as he just needs to be let out into the yard a few times a day, and some cuddles on the couch (along with the regular food & water). We'd love to sit for Lyn and Roger again!
Roger is such a sweet dog, it was wonderful to spend time with him. Lyn is lovely to communicate with. She made us feel welcome in her home. It was an easy, enjoyable weekend.
House sitting is a fun, immersive way to experience this magnificent country - without paying a cent for accommodation!
