Pippa the blue Merle border collie (5) and her brother LOKI need a sitter while we are away- Loki is just 3 years old and full of... mmm, what's the word? Loyalty? Love? "it"? He is hysterical. Pretty good, but a sweet baby so who loves attention. He is a bundle of joy and we guarantee you will adore this boy. lately, We are hoping for a sitter that works from home, a couple, or someone/couple retired... just someone able to spend more time at home than not and able to walk/play with them a lot. Collies are quite bright and need their brains engaged just as much as their bodies or else they get up to no good. They can also get a bit wound up when the family routine is off- so just another reason we prefer people who work or stay at home more rather than less.
5 bedroom home in a quiet cul-de-sac in Christchurch suburb close to everything. Relax and enjoy your stay with the spoiled puppers who love to cuddle and play with all the toys!
Sitters must be energetic and able to handle large dogs. Ours are very friendly, but also very boisterous. They jump sometimes and will jump on the couch to join you and can confuse themselves for lapdogs. Sitter must understand dogs and be firm but kind when this behaviours occurs- like excited or jumpy behaviour which is part of it. They need exercise and play.
Our flight returns very late Sunday night/Monday morning, It might be ideal if you can stay later Sunday- but not a deal breaker at all. The dogs will be fine.
Loki and Pippa are two incredibly loving, sweet dogs. It was a joy to get to know them. I found that if I took some of their biscuits with me on a walk then they were much more willing to listen to me ;) Mindi is lovely with great communication. This is a comfortable family home with a park nearby to take the dogs to.
We absolutely loved staying at Mindi's and looking after Loki and Pippa. Both dogs were very well behaved and we had no problems with either of them. They both loved trips to the beach and it was a pleasure to get to know them. Mindi's house was lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Thank you very much and we wish you all the best. Lovely quiet location tucked away from the busy city life. Loved the "she will be right" approach from the dogs! Pippa sure is a character and nothing fazes her as long as you play "tug-a-war", Loki is a wee gem, loved reassurance and special time. Would be lovely to sit outside in the Summer months and have the sun streaming into the home. Mindi provided clear instructions and advise and had prepared the bed ready for my stay. Loki and Pippa are two energetic, affectionate and lovable border collies. They absolutely loooove water, company and attention. Both possess very amusing antics - good luck with the hose! With a huge park right across the street and the Groynes dog park just a short drive away, we really enjoyed our twice daily walks. The agility courses and their river dips were so much fun too. Pippa was a super easy to care for pup with a lot of personality. She's a fairly independent dog in many respects (it was a bonus that she has a dog door) but loves a good scratch, some solid playtime, and a walk. Mindi did an excellent job of setting expectations and provided a clear set of written and verbal instructions regarding Pippa's care. They are a really nice, easygoing family. We'd recommend this housesit.
Housesitting for Mindi and her family was an absolute pleasure. They have a beautiful home in a lovely, quiet neighbourhood and Pippa the Collie is such a sweetheart! We had so much fun taking her on little adventures; she's cuddly, sweet and so funny with her little antics (like chasing lights, playing with her rubber chicken & fetching balls but refusing to give them back). We miss her already!
Communication was great and Mindi was lovely, friendly and welcoming - couldn't ask for better.
